our story

A family farm that became South Carolina's Agricultural Skincare House

Born in the South Carolina Lowcountry, from our pastures and apiaries to our flagship on King Street,
everything we create begins with the belief that skincare should start with agriculture.

How It Began

It started in a
farmhouse kitchen.

We read the labels on the skincare we'd been trusting with our family, and we couldn't pronounce most of them. As farmers, that bothered us more than it might bother most people. We knew where our food came from, down to the pasture. Why should skincare be any different?

Tallow was the answer our great-grandparents already knew: fat from well-raised animals, rendered slowly, and remarkably close to what healthy skin is made of. We had the animals. We had the land. So we made what we couldn't buy, and used it until it was gone.

Everything that followed came from the same conviction: what touches your skin should be raised the way food is raised, close to home, by people you could name. The kitchen got bigger. The principle didn't.

In a trend-driven beauty industry, we chose to return to the land.

To traditional fats. To time-tested ingredients. To a slower, more intentional approach to skincare.

Our Philosophy

Guided by
origin, integrity, and restraint.

Origin

We know exactly where our ingredients come from, because whenever possible, we produce them ourselves. Every formulation begins at the agricultural level, not the cosmetic counter.

Integrity

We create products we can stand behind fully, made from ingredients we raise or source with intention, from farms we know by name.

Restraint

We don't follow trends or formulate for scale. Consistency over speed. Quality over quantity. Long-term trust over short-term growth.

Agriculture

We are farmers before we are formulators. The dairy, the pastures, and the hives set the rhythm of our work, and every jar answers to the standards of a working farm, not a cosmetic lab.

Our story is still being written.

Pioneering on-farm bee venom extraction in South Carolina.

Opening our flagship retail experience in Charleston's historic King Street district.

Expanding the farm to create a larger sanctuary where our animals can thrive and future generations can experience authentic agriculture firsthand.

Investing in the next generation of agriculture through 4-H, FFA, agricultural education, and college scholarships.

Continuing to build South Carolina's Agricultural Skincare House, one generation at a time.

Our Partners

A trusted circle,
known by name.

What we can't raise ourselves, we source from farms we've stood on: a small circle of South Carolina growers, and a matcha farm in Japan we know personally, from field to harvest. Every partner is chosen the same way we choose everything. Origin first.

Tended By Our Whole Family

Faith. Farm. Time.

Southern Oaks is a family and a working farm. We raise the animals, render the tallow, and bottle every jar by hand, because we couldn't find skincare that started where it should: with the soil, the herd, and the time it takes to do things properly.
